There is not much gloss on Mad WOW E.P., and that seems to be the point. 909 RIOT & Carl Shorts meet for the first time on Resilient Recordings with two tracks built around hard, fast movement rather than oversized breakdowns or festival-techno shortcuts.
The title cut works in a stripped peak-time mode, leaning on marching percussion and a tightly wound sense of force. It is heavy without getting cluttered, leaving the groove exposed enough for DJs who prefer tools that do damage through pressure and repetition.
Suit Yourself takes the darker route. Its acid lines coil through the track with a more sinister edge, adding bite to the EP’s old-school hard techno frame. Across both cuts, the emphasis stays on percussive weight, unstable grooves and a raw club function that feels closer to underground rooms than drop-led spectacle.
